Joyous Paws Requirements
Member Handlers:
· At least 18 years old
Complete a new member application and payment of membership fee ($55 for first handler, $25 for each additional handler)
Complete a criminal background check
Completion of Socialization Test conducted by a certified pet evaluator and an observation visit
Proof of Required Vaccinations
· Minimum commitment 4 hours a year, 1 hour per animal
Visitation Requirements:
Member must document hours and submit each year as part of renewal
You may visit any facility that accepts our certification and insurance.
Please notify Marie of where you are visiting-for insurance records
You MUST give 48 hours to cancel or reschedule a visit, unless you have a
Medical/family or transportation emergency. You must notify the facility
Directly and Marie as soon as you are aware of the emergency.
If you do not give appropriate notification, the visit will be documented as
No Show.
TWO NO SHOWS WILL RESULT IN A TERMINATION OF YOUR MEMBERSHIP WITHOUT A REFUND!
Membership is for one year. Annual renewal requires submission of renewal form and payment of membership fee.
Personal Conduct Requirements:
Appropriate dress includes shirts and closed toed shoes, RIPPED JEANS, MINI SKIRTS, REVEALING BLOUSES, TSHIRTS with political or religious statements, are NOT appropriate.
All information regarding clients/patients is CONFIDENTIAL
You may not reveal the names of the people that we visit, any personal of medical information that they may share.
You may post photos of your visit on facebook or social media, but these photos MAY NOT include any identifiable body part of clients/patients without the express consent of the hosting facility.
Be respectful and courteous to all residents, staff members, other visitors at all times.
Members may not assist residents/patients with any physical activities, including assisting residents/patients with petting animals. ALWAYS HAVE A STAFF MEMBER ASSIST RESIDENTS/PATIENTS.
Members may not accept monetary gifts or other tangible items from residents/patients. Members may accept small in-tangible gifts such as pictures or candy if permitted by facility rules.
Any safety concerns, violations of safety requirements by other members, or possible injuries to
others MUST BE reported to the Executive Director within 24 hours.
Animal Members
Minimum of 1 year of age-younger animals may be approved on an individual basis
ALL animals must be spayed or neutered.
· Required vaccinations:
Dogs-Rabies, Distemper Combo for dogs under 5 years of age.
Cats-Rabies, Feline Distemper Combo for cats under 5 years of age.
Other animals-requirements determined by species/breed
Animal conduct:
Animals must be under physical control at all times.
Animals must be relaxed in high stimulus environments, allow rough handling and crowding by several adults, children, elderly and persons with physical disabilities. Animals must be comfortable around wheelchairs, walkers, canes and other mobility devices.
Body harnesses, head collar, nylon or leather neck collar. NO CHAIN/SPIKE/PINCH Collars
Animals must be restrained with the collar or harness that they were tested with. A change of collar/head harness/body harness style requires that the animal be re-tested.
· Animals must be handled by their registered handler(s). All handlers must be tested with each and every animal that they will be handling.
NOTE: Our animals may NOT interact in any way with animals not certified with our group during visitations. Refuse all requests for interaction. If there is an animal unrestrained or off leash, and the facility will not remove the animal-LEAVE and notify Marie.
ALL VIOLATIONS OF REQUIREMENTS WILL BE REVIEWED BY THE EXECTUTIVE DIRECTOR AND THE MEMBER NOTIFIED VIA EMAIL OF THE DECSION. ALL DECSIONS ARE FINAL AND BINIDNG!
